I’m sharing a quick “athleisure” outfit, one that I’ve been loving. Lately, all I’ve wanted is to be in easy-to-throw-on, comfortable clothing and this look definitely has all that I’ve been looking for! The details are below.
I recently purchased three items (originally four but then one went out of stock- more on that below) from Shein.com and I wanted to share them and also give a mini review of my experience as it was my first time purchasing from them. I’ve included the picture of the item that’s posted on the website along with how it fit on me for comparison.
Since it was my first time ordering from this website, I was honestly surprised by how inexpensive most of the items are. I am shopping from Canada so I had to take into account the exchange rate, but even with that, the dresses were priced very reasonably. The affordability was definitely the reason I decided to purchase from there and why I’m happy that I did.
Although I’m happy with the purchase, there are two things that slightly ticked me off. First, I had originally ordered four dresses because if you spend for a certain amount, you get free shipping so I wanted to get that. A few days after placing my order, I received an e-mail saying that one dress was out of stock and I could be refunded either on my Shein account or on my credit card. I chose to be refunded on my credit card and I have to say, this was done very quickly. I just wished that I would have known before placing my order that this item was out of stock because for $13, I would have preferred to get the item, or another one, instead of being refunded. I also have to say that when removing this item from my order, my total was under the free shipping amount, but I still got free shipping, which I was very happy about.
Second thing is the shipping time. It’s not a huge deal because I didn’t need these for a particular event, but it did take a little while to receive the items. I placed the order on April 7th and received it on May 12th. They did give me 500 points in my account (which is equal to $5) to compensate for the delay which is nice, but I didn’t use them because I didn’t want to order one item and have to pay for shipping. Plus, the points were only valid for 15 days after they added them to my account. I just want to note that if you did need to receive an item quicker, you could pay for faster shipping.
All in all, I think that if you’re alright with not getting your items within one week, it’s totally worth it to shop at Shein. The prices are very reasonable and it’s very easy to achieve the minimum purchase amount to receive free shipping. I haven’t worn the pieces extensively yet but they do seem to be about the same quality as clothes you would find at Forever21. I will most likely do an updated post in a few months detailing the quality and true fit of the dresses once I’ve had the chance to wear them/wash them more.
I hope you found this helpful, thanks for reading!
I thought I’d round up some of my favourite dresses for this season that would be great for Easter. I went out and got the first dress listed below, but I’m thinking I may have to pick up the others as well! Plus, Michael and I are going away on a very exciting trip this summer and these dresses would be perfect for it.
Old Navy: Patterned Boho Swing Dress. They seem to be sold out online but I picked mine up in store. AND it was on sale for 50% off so it was only $22!
Today I wanted to share some of my fashion staples that are under $50. I have a very “simple” style, most days opting for a t-shirt and cardigan. These are some of my favourite items that I think you NEED in your wardrobe!
These are moderately high waisted, so you never run the risk of showing anything you’re not supposed to, and they are very comfortable. Plus, they’re under $25! The only thing with these is that when you wear and wash them as much as I do, they do fade from their original black colour. But I don’t really mind this since they are so inexpensive.
I worked at this store for two years so I wore a lot of the clothes and their camis quickly became my favourite. I’ve had the same seven for about five years now and I am not sick of them yet!
This is the perfect t-shirt, it’s long enough that it covers your butt if you want to wear it with leggings, which is always a plus for me! I love to travel in leggings and running shoes (to be comfortable) so I’m always looking for a shirt that I can swear with this outfit, and this t-shirt is the perfect one!
I love this shirt because of the material; it’s so soft! Because it’s made a little loose, it fits really nicely and doesn’t cling to your body; there’s “breathing room”, which I love!
This is a pretty basic item but I particularly love this in the winter, to wear under a cardigan or even a possibly scratchy wool sweater. It can also be great for when you’re wearing pants that have a busy pattern to tone it down a little bit.
I love throwing this on a simple or “plain” outfit to make it stand out a little. It’s also great to grab when you’re on the go and the weather is a little bit chillier. I love that it’s so versatile, it can keep you warm when it’s cool but if it gets warmer, you can take wrap it around your waist.
I hope you enjoyed this short list! What are some of your fashion staples?
*None of these pictures are my own. They are all from their respective websites.
Today I’m sharing this super cute outfit that would be perfect for a Valentine’s Day dinner or a regular, perhaps “fancier” date night. This is probably my favourite skirt that I own; I love the cutout detailing all over, plus it’s very flattering.
Green shirt: GAP factory, similar one. This is the same model that I’m wearing, but in a coral colour, which I think would also go great with the skirt, especially for spring. Plus it’s only $8.97! This is a white top that would also look great for a more “subdued” look.
I got this jean shirt from my mom for Christmas and I love just how versatile it is. It’s a little bit big on me so I like to wear it unbuttoned with a white tank underneath. The detailing of the slit in the back is super cute!
Today I just wanted to share a fun & festive outfit that I’m wearing on my birthday.
I always love wearing “holiday” sweaters this time of year to get into the holiday spirit!
Sweater: I got this from Garage a couple of years ago but I can’t find it anywhere online. I found a super cute one from Forever 21, which I linked. This one from GAP factory is also another one I’d love to wear!
Boots: Banff trail. These boots are SO warm and are incredibly comfortable. When I tried them on in the store, my feet felt like they were on a cloud. And this feeling has yet to go away!
Today I’m sharing how to style a plain neutral sweater 3 ways: for the office (+ a small variation), for a night out and for a casual day. I bought this sweater at Forever 21.
The details for each outfit are at the end.
For the office: I paired the sweater with a blue & white striped dress shirt underneath, making sure to stick the collar of the shirt over the collar of the sweater. I tucked both of these into black dress pants and added silver flats. I’m using my work bag: the Kate Spade Cedar Street Jensen.
Variation: Replace the dress pants with black jeans and keep the dress shirt and sweater untucked for a more casual office look.
2. For a night out: I paired the sweater with black jeans, black patent heels, a gold statement necklace and a black cross body bag.
3. For a casual day out: I threw on some blue jeans, with my Steve Madden sneakers, my pink Kate Spade cross body bag (that goes with pretty much everything) and a Tiffany and Co. necklace.
Now for the details:
1.Dress pants: Costco. I couldn’t find them but I linked similar ones here.
Today I’m sharing this “comfy cozy” outfit. I love throwing on a t-shirt with a great chunky sweater/cardigan for an easy but “put-together” look. I especially love this cardigan because it keeps me so warm, and it is quite long, so I can wear leggings with it and be even more comfortable!
The details are below!
Beige t-shirt: I bought mine a couple of years ago at TJ Maxx but I found this similar one from Forever 21 for $4.90!!
Cream cardigan: GAP. I bought this last year at the outlet, but here’s a similar one.
Leggings: Champion. These are my favourite! I bought them about a year and a half ago and no matter how many times I wash them, they don’t lose their elasticity.
